Friday at Cafe Cordiale

If I had a twitter account and you were all my twitties this is what I would tweet:
I'm so stoked I can't go to sleep and I have to work tomorrow morning.
I had one of the most spectacular nights of my life.  Reggie joined me to hear his nephew Lamont Dozier Jr. (Monty) and we had the time of our lives!  Monty is the son of the famous Lamont Dozier (Reggie's brother) a member of the SECOND MOST SUCCESSFUL SONGWRITING TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE MUSIC WORLD, HOLLAND DOZIER HOLLAND!  Over the Beatles, over almost everyone.
First of all Monty was incredible and his band great: Jennifer Lopez' guitar player, Steve Lukather's drummer, Keyboard player who was MD for Diana Ross and the Supremes and several other top performers, great Detroit bass player, singer, sax virtuoso, excellent sax player.  It was real music and the room was jumpin', people clapping and dancing and, well you just had to be there.
If we could have expanded that room around the world there would be no more wars or hate, just love and hugs and music and dancing and photos!
After being introduced to the capacity crowd and taking a bow, Reggie and I were the co stars of the evening.  I danced with so many people I didn't know I may have to have my smile surgically removed.  Monty's sensational wife Linda danced with Reggie holding Reg's hand because he had to stay seated.  It was beautiful.
Reggie and I had our pictures taken with pretty much everyone there.  Multiple times!  I still have flash bulbs going off in my eyes.  If they post all these to facebook it may crash their server.  I ran out of cards early and no one wanted to leave because patrons and the musicians wanted to talk, and get photos, and talk some more and group hugs.  Well you get the picture.
Afterward, Reggie and I just sat in the car and looked at each other, unbelieving what had just happened.  Reggie said we'll be talking about this for the rest of our lives.
Talk about your 15 minutes of fame.  We used up several lifetimes worth.
Joann, Sue and Cheryl tried but couldn't make it and I really regret that because it was a happening but thank you for giving it the old college try.  The Good Troopers Award goes to Evette and Michaela who were there early and of course Reggie who drove in all the way from Ontario, and of course Monty for his generous inclusion of us in his birthday celebration.
If there was ever any doubt,
Music heals and music inspires.  Tonight was proof.  My heart is overflowing.
Ray
